Kazumaru Chronicles/
This story is a tale of pure fiction, and any companies mentioned are used in the context of this story and are not meant to reflect those corporations.
My name is Wolf Kazumaru. I live in what you might describe as a Dystopia. The year is 3096, and many factions are at war, throughout the Earth... I aim to put a stop to those wars. But story is a strange one, and you might have trouble understanding it... But please, try to.
I guess the best place for me to start would be my... Well, I can't really call it a birth. But anyway.
I was "born" on September the Eleventh, 3082. I was "born" during an experiment concerning the Cybernet. The cybernet is the 4th evolution of your Internet, Following Internet2 and the Holonet. The Cybernet allowed users to fully immerse themselves into it, their bodies literally dissapearing into a machine called an Immersor-Demersor, or the ID. The Cybernet was being worked on, tested, making sure no harm would come to a human body from the ID. After the sixth person came out of the Cybernet, they were followed by something else. An anomoly. That anomoly was me, a crying baby on the floor. The person who caused the anomoly, the sixth test subject... I call him my father. His name is Marthello Mudd.
Obviously, I was not a normal baby. My eyes were red, my skin was cold to the touch. My hair was another strange thing... It not so much hair as crystal. Sapphire, I'm told. They named the condition surrounding my hair "Lupinus Saphirus Syndome." I'm not sure why, but I was named Wolf. The hair thing wasn't really noticed until a few months later... Hence the Lupinus part.
As I grew, I became more and more anomalous... My hair was indeed hard as a Sapphire, but I could change it's shape at will. I never really bothered with this, as it grew with me... I left it shoulder-length, usually. My fingernails gradually turned into another gem, Jade. I couldn't change their shape, though. My toenails did the same.
I never went to school... My father was too poor to afford it... So I ran away in 3096.
And that brings me to my current age of Fourteen. From here on, I'll speak in a first-person point of view, for that will be easier for you to understand...
I walked away from the town that I had lived in for so long, the town of Lloydsenator. A town where I endured so much pain... So very much.
The only sounds I could hear were my footsteps, and my mind whirring. Where am I going? I don't know... Then why leave? I just know... I have to walk where I think I should...
Over the hills of the country I walked, for several hours... The night was coming, so I decided to find a place to stay... Luckily, I happened upon a cave, and I curled up on the floor at the back... My plain black T-Shirt wasn't much help keeping out the cold, though... I couldn't sleep, and I started thinking about what I usually did at night. Politics.
The political system of my Canada is much different from that of your age. There is one party, and their word is law. I had been taught that since entrering school, that I was to obey the Government. But in light of the tradgedies I'd heard of through the underground press... I didn't think this was right. There needed to be some kind of balance... but how could I help? My question pretty much answered itself. Fight. I was born as an anomaly, and I wanted to be rememberd as one... One who helped liberate the people of his country, from the tyrannic rule of the government.
I haven't detailed my world very well, have I? Well, the population of Canada is even smaller than it was in your days, thanks to government population controls. Cities have been abandoned, like Edmonton. Left in ruins... After we join the work force, we are ID chipped. From this chip, we can be monitored by the government... Making sure we're doing everything we should...
But I was not a member of the work force, no one was until they completed Grade 12. So who could fight...?
As I drifted off to sleep, the answer echoed in my mind... The Children...
The next day, I awoke to the sun shining in my eyes. Well... Actually, it wasn't. It was like a heavily cloudy day for you people... Except it was constant here... Thanks to pollution.
I got up, picked up my hat, my whole body was stiff, and I staggered out of the cave... I kept walking in the direction I was walking last night... Hoping to happen upon a city. As I walked, I tried to keep last nights heretical thoughts out of my mind. I finally stumbled into a city, and thought to myself... this looks like a nice place... Nothing on fire... Nice houses... What the hell. Might as well find a place to start begging. I was used to it, after all. My father was a very poor man, and we both needed to beg often... So I found an intersection, sat down, and waited for someone to walk by... Every time someone did, I'd ask for some change... Everyone just ignored me. Except one couple. A lady and a man... They looked like newlyweds... The lady said to her husband "Aww, look at the poor thing..." and then to me "Hey, little kid... do you have a home?"
"Uhm, no... I ran away..." I said, my voice cracking.
"Oh, you poor child!" she said to me, and then to her husband "Danny, would it be okay if we adopted him...? I mean, we wanted to have a child... and I don't want to give birth..."
"But then we'd have to notify the authorities about him, Lizzie..." the husband replied.
"No! Please, don't tell the cops you saw me... They can't know I'm here!" I said, out of desperation.
"Oh? And why not?" the husband, Danny, said to me.
"Well... I'll show you..." I said, removing the hat that had been hiding my "Hair"
The wife gasped "Wha- What is that?"
"It's... A long story. It's called Lupinus Saphirus Syndrome." I said.
"My... You poor dear...!" she said "Do you have a name...?"
"Uh, yeah... I'm Wolf..." I said, tenatively.
"That's an odd name..." Said the husband. "My name is Danny. This is my wife, Lizzie."
"Nice to uh, meet you both.." I said. "Look, I'm sorry to be rude, but I'm really hungry... So if you don't have any food or money to spare..."
"Danny..." Lizzie said
"Alright, fine... You want to come home with us, kid?" Danny said, hesitating.
"Really? You mean it? Yay!" I said, practically jumping up.
Danny and Lizzie took me back to their home, and asked me about my... conditions.
"Well... There's my red eyes, cold skin, and the hair and nail thing." I said.
"So... What caused all this?" Danny asked.
I kinda looked off to the side and said "Well, you're not going to believe me... But I was born from the cybernet. No one knows what caused it, but here I am... I wish to go to the Cybernet some day, as I have never been on it... But hey... Only a pipe dream, eh?"
"Well, there's an ID machine at the library... We'll take you down there tomorrow, okay?" Lizzie said "But first... you should get washed up and get some food in your stomach!"
After a good nights rest, we walked to the library... But when I saw the ID machine, I couldn't bring myself to go near it. I was... afraid. If I was born from it, what would happen if I returned? With these thoughts swirling through my mind, I just found some dataslates about the cybernet on a shelf. I scrolled through them, finding out what you can and can't do on the Cybernet.
Rule 1: No pornographic material shall enter the cybernet.
Rule 2: No illegal material, protest groups et al, may enter the cybernet.
Rule 3: Dissent will not be tolerated on the cybernet.
Rule 4: No attempts are to be made at getting onto Government accounts.
(From here on, I'll try to tell the story in Third person. It'll be easier for us both)
There were a bunch more rules... but Wolf's resolve was hardened. Dissent will not be tolerated... and that means, no disagreement with the Government. Wolf, who had been taunted by students and teachers alike took this to heart... Those who are different are dead... He got up, and said to his mother "I... Can't bring myself to go onto the cybernet, Lizzie... If I am from there... What happens if I return?"
"Aww... It's such a wonderful place... None of the strife and disagreements of the real world..." Lizzie replied, sad.
"That's what I'm afraid of... Lizzie, I need to talk to you and your husband on the way back to your house." Wolf said
"Hey, it's not mine and Danny's house. It's your house too..." Lizzie went to get Danny, and they left.
As they were walking, Wolf said "I... Don't trust the government. I've read before, of the old days... In the 21st century, when we were all free..."
"But we're truly free now, with the Government keeping us safe!" Danny said.
"No, we aren't. We used to be free to speek our mind. There used to be opposing political parties. We were entitled to our own opinions... And now... If anyone heard this conversation, we'd all be shot. And that is why... I need your help."
"What with, Wolfy?" Lizzie said, sounding mildly shocked.
"I need to get into a school here. Adults are tracked by the government, but children are not. We are the only ones that can revolt. The way I see it... It is my job to start this... To bring liberty and justice back. Liberty and justice for all..." Wolf said, his tone becoming ever more serious. "I am sorry that you ever too me in though, for your sake... I appologize for any harm that comes to you..."
"Don't worry, little dude..." Danny said "Your right. This needs to end... And you're also right about how adults can't stop it. Alright, we'll have you in a school by monday."
Wolf smiled "Thanks, Danny. so, uh... you guys never told me your last names..."
"Kazumaru." Danny said.
"Alright then... From this day forth... My name is Wolf Kazumaru." Wolf said.
"Welcome to the family, Wolf." Said Lizzie, smiling.
By Monday, Wolf had all the nessecary stuff for school. An editable Dataslate, a backpack (What? You can't improve on that.) and a wig to cover his "Hair".
First he had to report to the office, to take a placement test. He found the office easily, and the test was kinda hard at some parts, but easy over all... he got placed in Grade 9.
Quickly, he was assigned a schedule and homeroom. That was the world now... Everything fast... His first class was Political Sciences. Wolf knew what the class should be called, though. Propaganda class.
He walked into the class, it had already started, and handed his teacher, Mr. Wilson, a note explaining (Sort of) who he was, and why he was here.
"Go take a seat, kid." he said gruffly, and Wolf found a seat near the front, beside a dark-haired kid who looked like he was ready to pound someone.
"Now, as I was saying, class... The underground anti-Candian movements often use the Great Purges as evidence that our government is corrupt. But what they don't tell you is that the Great Purges were really committed by them, 10 years ago."
Wolf scoffed.
"Oh? Do you have something to say, new boy?" the teacher said, sneering.
"Yes, I do. You're wrong on two counts. First, Those happened only eight years ago, not 10. And they were not comitted by The Underground." Wolf said, defiantly.
"Oh? And how do you know this, boy?" Wilson said, glaring.
"I lived through one of them, sir." Wolf said.
By now, the whole class was staring at Wolf.
"The government disagrees with you, child." the teacher said, starting to panic.
"Did you live through the Great Purges? Did you try to sleep, while your father told you to keep quiet as you huddled behind a pile of rubble, and troops in Canadian Military uniforms marched past?" Wolf said, standing up, his eyes watering.
"Wh... I... They were Underground rebels, dressed in Canadian uniforms!"
"The hell they were. The Underground stands for Liberty and Justice. Not violent purges." Wolf said, "The Government portrays them as violent anarchists, but I know better.
"Go to the office, NOW!" Wilson yelled, his voice cracking.
As Wolf went to leave the room, with his dataslate in hand, he stopped and said... "My name is Wolf Kazumaru. Remember that." and walked out.
After a whipping in the office, now standard punishment for dissent, Wolf was allowed to go to his next class. That was fairly uneventful, and then came lunch. Wolf ordered some sloppy-looking food, and found a table to eat at, by himself. After a few minutes, three others came and sat by him.
The first to speak was a lanky one, with blonde hair. "I heard what you said in class... What was your name? Wolf?"
"Yeah. My name is Wolf Kazumaru." Wolf replied, taking a bite out of his food.
"It was... Inspiring, almost. To hear someone challenge what the government tells us... You've got some real courage." A second one said. He was average, really. Skinny and tall.
The third one, a girl then spoke up "Yeah. It's amazing to talk to someone who actually survived the purges..." she said. She had a fairly average build, and black hair.
"uhh... Thanks? Well... You know my name... But I don't know yours..." Wolf said.
"I'm Jeremy Thiek" the lanky one said.
"Call me Houg." the second boy said.
"My name's Vanessa Shinada." the girl said, smiling at Wolf.
"Nice to meet you all... But why are you talking to me? I figured that would have made me an outcast." Wolf said.
"Quite the reverse." Houg said "You're a living legend now."
"Oh?" Wolf said, raising an eyebrow.
"Yeah, man. Everyone in that class is starting to doubt the Government. They're beginning to question the government." Jeremy said.
"Yeah... Even those who don't think you're right respect you." Vanessa said.
Wolf bit into his food again, chewed, swallowed, and said "Doesn't matter what they think now... They'll never respect me soon..."
"Why do you say that?" Vanessa said.
"I'm not... How you say... Normal." Wolf said, holding up his hand, showing off the jade fingernails.
"Whoa... What is that...?" Houg said, staring at his fingernails.
"It's a gem called Jade. I am the only known victim of something called Lupinus Saphirus Syndrome." Wolf said, sighing.
"Whoa... that's... whoa... I mean... If this were anyone else... I'd have run away... but you're a living legend, man..." Jeremy said.
"What causes that... disease?" Houg asked.
"If I told you, you'd never believe me, Houg." Wolf said.
"Try me."
Wolf lowered his voice. "I was never born. I came from the cybernet, an anomaly in the early tests fourteen years ago. Lupinus Saphirus Syndrome. Red eyes, skin that's cold to the touch, fingernails and toenails made of jade. Hair, except body hair and pubic hair, made of sapphire."
"You're right... I don't believe you. Have you ever been on the cybernet?" Houg asked.
"Nope... Lived in poverty most of my life... Ran away, came here. Couldn't bring myself to go on. After all... If I came from it, what happens if I go back?"
"Hmm... this IS interesting..." Vanessa said.
"What an understatement." Jeremy added.
"I don't understand... How did you come from the cybernet...?" Houg asked.
"I don't know, man... I just know that I did. That's the cause of Lupinus Saphirus Syndrome." Wolf sighed.
"Alright... You want to go on the cybernet... But you're scared, right?" Jeremy said.
"Yeah, more or less." Wolf replied.
"So, how about you come on with us after school? After all, we ARE like... Friends now, right?" Jeremy said, grinning.
"Yeah... I guess. Alright. I'll meet up with you after school." Wolf said.
The rest of the day went by uneventfully...
After school, Wolf found his new friends.
"Alright... Let's go to the library... Nearest access point." Jeremy said.
As they walked, Wolf said "So, how does the Cybernet work? How do we access it via the ID machines?"
"Well, there are vertexes spread around the Earth, more or less randomly. All you have to do is put an ID machine in one, and turn it on." Vanessa said.
"So, if someone were able to just located the vertexes with their mind... And find some way to throw themselves in..." Wolf said, thinking.
"Yeah, you'd probably get in. But then the problem is getting out. The Vertexes inside are spread paralel to the ones in reality. So in order to leave, you have to go back to where you came from. That's where teleporation scripts come in." Vanessa replied.
"Teleportation scripts?" Wolf inquired
"Yeah. Scripts allow you to do things quickly, and create objects. Teleportation scripts bring you to a certain point." Vanessa answered.
"Alright, we're here." Jeremy said, pushing open the library door. "C'mon in..."
The group wandered in, and they walked over to the ID machine. "Alright... Usual order, except with Wolf second." Jeremy said. He then ran into the ID machine, dissapearing into thin air.
"Alright, Wolf. Your turn." Vanessa said, worriedly.
"Alright... I can do this..." Wolf said, walking slowly into the ID machine.
Suddenly, he was surrounded by surging energy, red lines whipping around him. He tried to stop from panicing, and soon he was in a jungle, with Jeremy. The other two soon followed.
"Wow... This is... Amazing..." Wolf said, looking around. It was just like reality... "So how do I use scripts and objects?"
"think of the word 'Inventory', then try to find what you want. It's hard at first, but you'll get it." Vanessa supplied.
"Wolf... Your hair... Your wig is gone..." Houg said.
"Great..."
"And there's like, code spilling out of the sapphire and jade stuff..."
Wolf looked at his fingernails. "Oh man... That's probably not good... But hey... I'll just ignore it..."
"Oh yeah, because that's always smart." Houg smirked.
"Alright... So is there anything interesting around here?" Wolf said.
"Not really... Closest city is Mayoris. 10 KM away. And none of us can code, so we've just been doing weak little script-kiddy things here. Want to see our Treehouses?" Jeremy said.
"Sure, why not?" Wolf said.
"Alright... Follow me..." Jeremy said, as he started running.
Wolf took off after him, easily keeping pace. "Jeremy... Are you running full out?" Wolf asked.
"Yes... Wolf..." Jeremy panted.
"But... I'm uber-slow in reality." Wolf said. He wasn't even breathing hard.
"Stop for a second, guys." Vanessa said... and they all stopped.
"What is it, Vanessa? Heard something in the distance?" Houg said.
"No... But think about this. Wolf says he can't run very fast in reality, and yet he can keep pace with Jeremy in here. Think about it. We're different in the Cybernet than reality. We're all stronger and faster in reality... If only marginally, due to spending a lot of time here. But Wolf... Is faster and probably much stronger here. Think about that, too. We're stronger where we come from, and he's stronger where he comes from." Vanessa said.
"Whoa, that's real deep. You said that the inventory was controlled by thought, right?" Wolf said, again thinking.
"Yes..."
"What else is?"
"The world map, server statistics... Objects..."'
"Hmm... Okay. Let's just wait for a second. I came from here... This code is leaking out of me... Maybe... I can use it." Wolf said. "Be quiet and let me think for a second..."
Wolf closed his eyes and concentrated. Slowly, the code flowing from him concentrated itself near his hands, and formed a pistol-esque shape... What they recognized as a military standard issue hand-flamer.
"No way..." Houg gasped.
Wolf opened his eyes, and fiddled with the hand-flamer. He pointed it in the air, and depressed the trigger. A large gouge of flame ripped into the air. "Oh yeah. I'm going to love this place... I get the feeling you guys can't do this?"
"No... We can't... No one can... Supposedly..." Jeremy said.
"Alright. So I CAN help you guys." Wolf said. "Now, let's keep going."
They set off again, and soon came to an area where something had been built into the trees.
"It's really a stretch to call them houses..." Houg said.
"Hey, they're pretty neat. At least you've got something going." Wolf said.
"Nothing major. We could probably create a city if we got someone to help..." Vanessa said.
"Hmm... You know, I really wonder what else I could summon..." Wolf said, slightly distracted.
"You've already figured out how, Wolf?" Vanessa said, shocked.
"Yeah. I just need to do... something... not sure what... And think of what I want to summon. Think of how it works, how it looks, what it does."
"How do you know so much about military-only hand-flamers, then?" Vanessa queried.
"Simple. I stole one during the purge. Remember? Military." Wolf said. "Give me a second here, I'm going to try something..."
Wolf stared at a tree, and reached deep into himself... into his past. Searching for what let him summon. The tree condensed into a small ball, then spikes started coming out of it. Wolf grabbed one as it shot past him, and stopped concentrating. The spikes stopped and stayed as they were.
"Whoa... What were you trying to make?" Jeremy asked.
"Nothing. I didn't think. I'm assuming that this operates on the mind of what I'm trying to change. Since the air and that tree lack minds, I could mold them. Since I didn't mold the tree, it started to reflect my subconcious." Wolf said. "And voila. A mace."
"Wolf... I'll let you try that on me... I want to see how it feels..." Vanessa said, bravely. She knew he was going to ask anyway.
"ARe you sure...? This is risky..."
"Yeah, I'm sure."
"Alright..."
Wolf closed his eyes and concentrated on Vanessa... What she wanted... She started floating, and Wolf's code started enveloping her... Then Wings sprouted out of her shoulderblades, and at the base of her rib cage... Four in total. Her casual clothing became like armor, metallic silver, with purple lines. Dual pistols settled in her hands. She came down from floating in the air as Wolf opened his eyes.
"Nice touch, Wolf... I like the wings." Vanessa said, checking out her new armor, and flapping the wings.
"Hey, I didn't do anything. This is how you think you are. An angelic warrior. Anyone else going to step up?" Wolf said
"Fine, I'll do it. If Vanessa did it, I should as well." Houg said.
Wolf closed his eyes and concentrated on Houg... He floated up into the air, as Wolf's code envolped him... Then A vehicle appeared around him... a mech... Something you would describe as a Tau XV-8 Crisis Battlesuit. With a shield, flame thrower, and an ejection system. It was painted red.
Houg's voice cracked out of it. "Whoa, nice gear, Wolf..."
"Like I said... It's all you, Houg."
"My turn, then." Jeremy said. "They've both done it..."
Wolf sighed, and concentrated again. His code started envoping Jeremy, it's greeness all consuming, and Jeremy was floating. A vehicle started to form underneath him... A motorbike. It was pretty sweet, really. Think Cloud's bike. Jeremy's clothing then started changing, into armor much like Vanessa's, except Black and Green instead of Silver and Purple.
"Wow... This is so cool... We're like... Soldiers..." Houg said, his voice staticy.
"Alright. Now with that over... I tried this so you could help me." Wolf said.
"Anything you want..." Vanessa said, floating.
"Alright... I plan to start a rebellion. To free the truths of the past. To bring back democracy and rights. I need you to spread the word, in real life." Wolf said. "Tell them... Wolf needs you."
"Isn't this kinda dangerous...?" Said Houg.
"Yes. And that's why it hasn't been attempted before. A massive revolution. By the children. For we can not be tracked... If we die, it is of no consequence. As long as the revolution starts..." Wolf said, his words backed by courage.
"Well, that's not at all depressing, Wolf. But I'm in." Houg said, voice still crackly.
"For truth..." Jeremy said, nodding.
"I said anything, and I meant it." Vanessa said.
"Alright... 10 PM next Friday, the Revolution begins..." Wolf said. "We're under a timeline now. We need to cripple the CIN. The Cop Intellegence Network. That's the first step. Then we need guns... Lots of guns."
Yep. Guns are still used in 3096.
"So what? We all get guns until 9 PM next Friday, then two of us cripple the CIN?" Vanessa asked.
"Pretty much, yes. Only one problem. We're going to need my experience and charisma on the outside... But my expertise is also needed inside. Great. I'm invaluable everywhere." Wolf sighed.
"I think you'll survive some how, Wolf. We need you more on the outside. We can get someone to help cripple the CIN." Jeremy said.
"In any case... Start spreading the word tomorrow... But for now, let's all head home. I'm going to run back... Anyone want to race?" Wolf said.
They all took off, and cut neatly between the trees. Except for Houg, who just smashed through.
The next day was once again uneventful, and they met up again in the Cybernet.
Sadly, the tranformations did not stay. So Wolf once again concentrated on Vanessa, and his code started flowing towards her as she started floating... The transformation was almost exactly the same, except her wings now had purple stripes, and the transformation was faster.
Wolf transformed the others, and summoned his hand-flamer.
"So, Wolf. How do you know how the Mech and Motorbike work?" Houg said.
"I don't. You know how your mech works, even if subconciously, and Jeremy knows how the bike works." Wolf said, shrugging.
"... Okay..." Jeremy said.
"Look, everything you now have reperesents your personality. Vanessa's innocence is represented by her wings and the pure colors of her armor. Houg's strength, represented by his mech. His need to be safe is represented by the mech's ejector system. Jeremy's speed, and knowledge that he can protect himself, is represented by his bike and armor, respectively. The dark colors are representing... Some kind of secret..." Wolf said.
"That's... almost creepy." Vanessa said, hovering in the air still.
"Yeah..." Wolf said.
"So... How about we do some target practice... Or something?" Jeremy suggested.
"Alright." Wolf said "I'll work on speeding up summoning things... And trying to finish your tree-village."
"Wait... First we need targets." Houg said.
"Oh, yeah..." Wolf said.
Wolf closed his eyes, and the code started flowing into a meadow. Wolf held his arms out in front of him, towards the target. The code started flowing faster, and formed three green cocoons. The cocoons started to contract and form three dummies, each in Canaidan Military garb. Wolf lowered his hands, and opened his eyes. All this took about 10 seconds.
"Wolf... I have a question..." Vanessa said "Each time you've formed something, the code has always been from your fingernails... But we can also see blue coloured code flowing from your... 'hair'. whatsup with that?"
"Don't know... Guess I'll see if I can use that later... Good luck, dudes and dudette..." Wolf said, and started to walk off. "Wait... Jeremy, you don't have a weapon." Wolf turned around, closed his eyes, raised his arms, and the code from his fingers started to form a cocoon in front of him... As the code cocoon contracted and changed shape, A blue-tinted Katana with a hilt reminscent of those from Blade Trinity formed. Wolf opened his eyes, and grabbed it out of the air. He then chucked it at Jeremy, with the sheath on it. Don't ask how the sheath got there.
"Thanks, dude..." Jeremy said.
Wolf turned away, and started forming small thing. A dart. After it formed, he let it fall to the ground. Then, he started to form a cup. This didn't take long, either.
Meanwhile, Chirstian was hacking away at his dummy, while Houg was torching his. Vanessa was headshotting hers repeatedly.
"It's about time to head back, eh?" Jeremy said.
"Yeah... Almost." Houg said.
The next few days were pretty much the same, with Wolf's outbursts of truth in Propaganda Class, and the rest of the Crew spreading fliers about the revolt. No one in authority had noticed, and no one had ratted them out... Then came Friday.
As they walked towards the treehouses, already geared up, Wolf said "You know... We have the whole weekend, right? And we can sleep here?"
"Yeah... my parents don't really care. They're used to me disappearing for the weekend." Vanessa said.
"Same here." Jeremy said.
"They don't even notice me." Houg said, sighing.
"Alright... Hey, Vanessa. You want to come with me to my place, to tell my parents?" Wolf said.
"Alright, sure!" Vanessa said.
As they walked off, Wolf said "You know, Vanessa. I'm really starting to wonder when they'll catch on to us..."
"Yeah, me too..."
"Well, here's my house... C'mon in." Wolf said. They both walked in through the front door, and into the living room, where Wolf's mom sat on the couch... Three dots of crimson over her heart, and a burn on her face.
"Oh my God!" Vanessa cried.
"... No... She's... DAMNIT!" Wolf cried, slamming his fist into the wall. "Grah... They'll be back... It's not safe for me here any more... come on... We have to get back..."
"To the ID machine?" Vanessa said, shock in her voice.
"YES!" Wolf said, slamming his fist into the wall again, leaving a sizable dent.
"Alright... let's just walk, though... we have to not look suspicious..." Vanessa said.
"No, we need to run. It's game over if we don't get there fast." Wolf said.
"A- You're probably right... Let's go."
And so, they ran back to the Library, burst through the doors, and ran right into the ID machine.
After they were immersed, Wolf started transforming Vanessa, and he said "You know what this means right? Total war. We cripple them now." Then he let her down, and her armor was black and red instead of silver and purple.
"Yes..."
They quickly found Houg and Jeremy, and Wolf explained what happened. "This is war, dudes and dudette... We cripple them. Now. Vertex Theory states that if we close a vertex on one side, we close it on the other, right?" Wolf said.
"Yeah... But how can we..." Houg started.
"I can see the vertexes... They appear as red dots... I only now figured out what they were. The Cybernet is basically a whole other Earth, right? So if we walk to where the cop station would be..." Wolf said.
"Yes... Yes indeed, Wolf. Come on. Let's go... But how are you going to close 'em?" Jeremy said.
"Blue Code, dude." Wolf said.
And so, they ran/trekked/flew/biked to approximately where the cop station would be... Near the edge of the Jungle.
Wolf held out his arms, and concentrated on a vertex... A blue knife appeared in his hands, for some reason.
"Huh?" Wolf said "What'm I supposed to do with that."
A voice rung in his head "What do you do with a sharp knife? YOU CUT THINGS!"
And so, Wolf slammed the knife towards the Vertex. It dissapeared. Wolf slammed it at another and another, and they all disappeared... his rage was dissipating... and there were no more vertexes in the area.
"Hey, Wolf-man. Is it all good now?" Houg said.
"Yeah man. We're safe for now." Wolf said.
"So... what do we do now, Wolf?" Vanessa asked.
"Well... We have a week left, right?" Wolf said.
"Yeah..." Vanessa said.
"We need to get someone back into reality. Someone to spread the word some more and finalize everything." Wolf said.
"What's to Finalize? Everyone knows to bring guns, fire, etcetera to the cop shop next Friday." Said Jeremy.
"Oh... Well... Why don't we explore the Cybernet?" Wolf said.
"You know... I think that's the best idea I've heard all day..." Houg said.
Behind them, they heard something that sent chills through their veins...
"FREEZE! CYBERNET ADMINISTRATION!" Yelled a navy-clad man behind them, pointing a pistol at them. "WE HAVE YOU SURROUNDED!"
Wolf sighed. "No you don't. There's only one of you."
"B-B... Uh... I HAVE YOU SURROUNDED!!!" the man yelled.
"Aww, what did we do? Did we make big government cry?" Houg taunted, without turning around.
"We have no time for this..." Jeremy said.
"Yeah. Let's roll." Vanessa said, starting to fly off.
"STOP! BY THE AUTHORITY INVESTED IN ME-"
Wolf whirled around and jammed his flamer into the throat of the administrator. "Don't fuck with me." he said.
Blue code once again started flowing from Wolf's hair, and towards the adminstrator, as if reflecting Wolf's very thoughts. "If you join us, you shall be forgiven." Wolf said "If not, you shall be banned."
"Join slime like you!? NEVER!" The man cried out.
"So be it." Wolf said "Bannn..." he hissed, the code stabbing into the man's heart, and he then disappeared... He had been banned.
"... Oh man. That is so cool." Houg said.
"Yeah... Let's keep moving. After seeing that in the logs, they'll probably remove the safties for us on here." Wolf said.
"What...? So that means...?" Vanessa said.
"Yeah. From herein, if they catch us, we die." Wolf said.
"So it's no safer here than reality?" Jeremy said.
"That..." Wolf said, pausing for dramatic effect "Is where you're wrong, dear Jeremy. I can spawn whatever I wish, modify the terrain to meet my desires."
"That's almost scary, Wolf..." Vanessa said. "Isn't there some kind of moral dilemna about using that power?"
"... It's either I use that, or we all get chilled." Wolf said, grimly. "In any case, we have to move."
"Right." Houg said "where to, Chief?"
"We must go to... Mayoris." Wolf said.
"... Why Mayoris? Wouldn't it be safer to go to somewhere farther away?" Jeremy said.
"No. We need to remain fairly near the Vertex." Wolf said "Or else we won't get back in time."
"Oh yeah... Let's go..." Jeremy said, sighing.
And so, once again, they biked/walked/lumbered/flew to Mayoris.
Mayoris, the city of angels. This sprawling metropolis had architecture with a heavy French influence all around it... Gargoyles on the walls, etcetera. You know, major cliche.
As they walked into the city, they heard a voice from behind them. Someone was standing on the gate to the city.
"Wolf Kazumaru!" The man said. "So you're the one all this fuss is about? I'm amazed they missed you in the great purge."
"What!?" Wolf gasped, turning around.
"Oh, you didn't know? The Great Purge was a coverup to try and kill you." the man said, smugly.
"What do you want, freakish man?" Wolf said.
"To fight you, one on one. To see who is better. I, who have had these powers for years... Ever since they made me a test subject against my will, and the same anomaly that created you struck me." The man paused. "My name is Daemonis. But enough chit chat, do you agree to my conditions?"
Wolf sighed. "One on one? You've got to be kidding me." He put his hands behind his back, and spawned a glass bottle. "You'd die so fast, you wouldn't know what happened."
"Is that so? Well, then. Let's get it on!" Daemonis said, jumping down and landing softly on the street. His trenchcoat seemed to float as he fell, and his hair looked like it was made of Diamond. Wolf saw that he had greenish eyes, wore gloves, and had greenish shades...
"The first move is yours, Daemon-dork." Wolf said. Daemons came running at him,.and Wolf whipped the bottle at Daemonis, and hit him in the face. Hard.
"RUN!" Wolf yelled, and the group took off down the street.
"AH! WHAT THE HELL!" Daemonis shrieked. "No, no, mustn't get angry..." He said, removing his glove, and healing his face with the code flowing from it.
The group split up at the first intersection, with Wolf going left, Jeremy right, Houg straight, and Vanessa up. What? She can fly, damnit.
"Coward!" Daemonis whispered, and pursured Wolf, choosing the correct path.
"I'M COMING FOR YOU, BOY!" Daemonis yelled.
Wolf stopped. "Daemonis, why must we fight?"
"It is of your own doing, Wolf." Daemonis replied, skidding to a stop a few feet away.
"How so, Daemonis? You are the one that wishes to fight, not I." Wolf sighed.
"You plotted against your government, and therefore you must be..." He more or less spat the last word out "eliminated." Daemonis removed both his gloves, revealing the his Jade fingernails. He threw the gloves off to the side. "I HATE hippies like you!"
"You're not that smart, are you, Daemonis? You actually believed all that junk?" Wolf said, putting his hands behind his back and spawning dual hand-flamers. "My fucking parents are dead. MY FUCKING PARENTS! THANKS TO YOUR FUCKNG EMPLOYERS!" Wolf pulled out the hand-flamers, and pointed them at Daemonis.
"It's your own fault, Wolf! Blame yourself! And what're those toys in your hands? Little ray-guns? What're they going to do, spark at me?" Daemonis laughed, and then he spawned a shotgun in his hands.
"Oh, they'll do more than spark..." Wolf said.
"You are NO MATCH for me. NO MATCH AT ALL!" Daemonis yelled, aiming the shotgun at Wolf.
"You have no clue, Daemonis! NO CLUE AT ALL! YOU'RE GOING DOWN!" Wolf yelled, whipping one of the Handflamers at Daemonis' face.
"OW! DAMNIT!" Daemonis yelled, gripping his cheek.
Wolf then held the other flamer flamer in one hand and walked up to Daemonis. "You bastard..." Daemonis cried. "YOU BASTARD!" He yelled, smacking Wolf in the face, and then running off "I'll be back, you little bitch! YOu got lucky this time!"
The rest of Wolf's crew soon joined up with him.
"Who was that guy?" Jeremy asked.
"He says his name is Daemonis... He has the same abilities as me..." Wolf said, in a state of slight shock.
"Should we follow him?" Vanessa asked.
"No, let him go. We have more pressing matters at hand." Wolf said, sighing. "We need to find a square or something. Somewhere where we can announce the plans for Revolution."
As Wolf, started walking, Vanessa tapped his shoulder. Wolf turned around, and saw Vanessa pointing to the left. At a large group of people in admin-uniforms. Canadian admins.
Wolf sighed "Man, I hope that's some false flag junk. Because I don't want to lose this chance to spread the word..."
The admins spread through the crowd, looking around and not even trying to be inconspicuous.
Jeremy sighed "Alright, They've probably spotted us by now... so I have an idea. You guys get onto a roof and I'll lead the admins away."
"You sure, dude...? If you get banned..." Wolf said.
"He's right. We can't afford to lose anyone..." Houg sighed.
"Don't worry... I'll be back soon." Jeremy said.
Wolf climbed up a pipe, and onto the roof. Houg and Vanessa just flew up.
Then Jeremy whistled loudly. "YO, ADMINS! I'M YOUR MAN, RIGHT HERE! CATCH ME IF YOU CAN!"
Jeremy gunned the bike, and set off, all of the admins in pursuit.
Wolf grumbled "Is THAT our country's best...? Sheesh!"
"tell me about it..." Vanessa sighed.
"In any case..." Wolf started, and then cleared his throat. "PEOPLE OF MAYORIS!" He yelled "MY NAME IS WOLF KAZUMARU! I AM HERE TO SPREAD THE WORD OF A REVOLUTION, IT STARTS AT THE COP SHOP AT 10 PM, NEXT FRIDAY! I WARN YOU, IF YOU ATTEND THIS SHALL NOT BE EASY! BUT I INTEND TO FREE THIS COUNTRY FROM THE TYRANNY OF THE GOVERNMENT!'
"MY COMRADES AND I, WE NEED YOUR HELP!"
Someone yelled out from the ever-growing audience "HEY, AREN'T YOU THAT GUY ON THE WANTED POSTERS!?"
"YES I AM!" Wolf replied, shouting still.
"WHY SHOULD WE HELP YOU, DISSIDENT!?" someone else yelled out.
"Do you not want to be free from tyranny? My destiny is to end this brutal regime!" Wolf yelled "To go back to the old days of Government by the People, for the People!"
"But it is God's will that we are ruled by this Government!" Yet another person yelled out.
"What kind of God wants his people to be ruled by this tyrannical faction!? Anyone who disagrees is KILLED! I believe that it is my destiny to free you all!" Wolf shouted.
"Why do you believe that load of crap, Kazumaru?" A fourth person yelled out.
"Because, what else would I be destined to use this for?!" Wolf yelled. He then closed his eyes, held his arms out, and let the code flow out of him... The sky started to get dark, and a lightning storm was rolling in.
Sensing what Wolf was going to do, Vanessa yelled "EVERYONE! GET AWAY FROM THE CENTER OF THE STREET!"
Everyone quickly moved to the far side, and a bolt of lightning came down, and wrote onto the ground, a new bolt for each letter.
It spelled: "Fight The Power!"
The people collectively gasped, and one pointed at Wolf and yelled "TRULY, HE IS GOD!"
Wolf smacked his forehead "No. I'm not God. I'm just a man. A man with a dream. A dream for-"
"Dissent. Treason. Heresy. Betrayl. Murder. Want me to go on?" Said a familiar voice, standing on a roof across from Wolf.
"You again?" Wolf said, sighing "Man, like I don't have enough problems. All I want to do is free these people from the opression of the Government. But you are too brainwashed to see that, right, Daemonis?"
"Please. You call ME brainwashed, Puberty?" Daemonis growled.
"If you don't want to listen to me, why are you here?" Wolf said, crossing his arms.
"You know the reason, you little mutant. To fight." Daemonis said, practically spitting the word mutant.
"You want to fight me again, Daemonis? Will you ever give up?" Wolf said.
"You make it sound like you're the holy one here, mutie." Daemonis yelled.
"What would you know about holiness? You're just a pawn in this global game of chess!" Wolf said "And the only way to win this, is not to play. But the government continues to play, to kill it's citizens. Remember when we invaded America? We won. But at what cost? This demented world conquest has DESTROYED this world!"
"You don't know what you're talking about, puberty. Just give up this stupid revolution, and join us. Give up, this ends, life returns to normal." Daemonis said, his tone oddly soothing.
"I... NO!" Wolf said. "I will not give in to you, Daemonis! THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN!"
You are such a stubborn idiot. Lost in your rebellion. Daemonis said
You said you wanted to fight me. Let’s go, you pawn. Wolf said, grinning, adrenaline flowing into his body.
Fine, puberty. You’re on. Daemonis said, removing his gloves and throwing them out onto the street. One on one.
Let’s do it. Wolf said The first move... is yours!
SO BE IT! Daemonis yelled, jumping across the street, then blasting some blue code at Wolf.
Wolf whipped some at Daemonis and intercepted his bolt. He then whipped his hand-flamer at Daemonis, once again smacking him in the face and breaking his concentration.
