Chapter Five: Geekiness is Heriditary.
Senretsu came through the portal first, followed closely by Pheonix. Senretsu's hands were shaking... He hadn't driven before. He was worried that he was gonna wreck Wolf's van.
Senretsu shook his head and whispered "You can do it, man... You've rode beside your brother enough times... Hit the gas, watch your cornering speed... Just let yourself into the zone... Don't think too much... Just... GO!" Senretsu floored the gas, and ripped forward (He's been driving steadily for the past half-minute. Pheonix is far ahead.), The lurching of the van freaked him out a bit, and he tapped the brakes. He swore. He then floored it again, and took the first turn at high speed, and the van started to tip. "Grrrah... YOU CAN DO THIS, SENRETSU!" he yelled.
Wolf's voice came across the radio. "Senretsu... Come on. You can do this. Succed where I have failed. You can beat this thing. NOW JUST GO!"
"Yeah... Thanks, bro." Senretsu replied.
He floored it again, ripping through the tight turns of this track. He slowly settled into a zen-like state, and noted that there was more grip in the center of the track. He moved into the center, and took the next turn, trying his best to find the right line... He slammed into the side. He cursed once again. He jammed the gas, and ripped through a straight away. He heard a familiar sound... but he couldn't quite place it. He looked in his rear-view mirror.
The Drones!
"Nuh-uh, buzz-suckas. You're not getting past me." he said. The first drone car, one that looked rather like a Hummer, drove up beside him. Sen chanced a look to the side and noticed something shocking: The driver wasn't human!
"What!? Well... I guess... That means I can do THIS!" He yelled, and swerved the van to the left, then the right, slamming the Drone car into the side, wrecking it. Sen stopped the van and jumped out, as the Drones ripped by.
Sen opened the Van's rear doors, and looted some parts from the wrecked vehicle. Namely, a door and a wheel. Sen put them in the back, and floored the gas again.
"Senretsu... Why did you stop?" Wolf said over the radio.
"I found something you might want to see, big bro." Sen replied, calmly.
"Oh? Well, anyway. Hit that button beside your right thumb on the steering wheel." Wolf said.
"Wha? Okay..." Sen said, and hit the button.
The van speed up, and everything blurred around Sen. He was barely taking the turns, and soon caught up to the Drones. He swerved in front of one, and it swerved away, slamming into the wall.
The van slowed back down to normal speed, with Sen ahead of the drones now. He felt confident now... he knew how the van handled now... He would survive...
Meanwhile, farther ahead.
"Ahhh!" Pheonix yelled, the F1 barely dodging the vines that kept trying to grab it. "Oh, man. I HOPE THIS IS A DREAM!"
Raioh's voice came over the radio. "Pheonix... stay in the center of the track... You can do this, man. The center of the track has more grip... you'll go faster... You'll survive. You're in the lead, dude. Senretsu's far behind him- And he's still ahead of the Drones. So just get out of there alive, bro. First race under our belts!"
"Alright... Center of the track."
Pheonix maneuvered the car to the center of the track, and noticed the speed increase. The vines kept missing him now, and he saw the portal at the end of the track. He was going to make it!
"YEEEEEEEEHAW!" Pheonix yelled, as he jumped through the portal.
Pheonix flew through the portal and into the acceledrome, and he skidded to a halt as some weird thing materialised in front of him.
"Whoa... What's this...? Oh well... I'll show Tez it later."
Pheonix drove into the Garage, and just kinda fell asleep in his seat. The exertion had sapped all his energy, and he seriously needed some coffee...
(My favourite chapter so far. Mainly because Tezla only gets a passive mention, and I like Sen's little charecter-growth thing. -Wolf Kazumaru)
